1: Acuity
The first game mode measures something called ‘Near Visual Acuity’. This is a similar test to the more traditional eye/letter chart, typically used when visiting an optician. Instead of looking at letters, the OKKO Health app asks you to look for vanishing 'optotypes' - we call these 'OKKO Circles'.
Circles in various sizes will appear on the screen, and the aim is to tap all the circles you can see. The smaller the circle gets, the harder they are to see.
The app will adjust the size of the circles based on your performance. The better you do, the smaller the circles get, making them more challenging find.
Acuity is measured in something called 'LogMAR'. The lower the LogMAR score, the better the performance.
2: Distortion
The second game mode measures the ability to see minor misalignment. This test is particularly looking for the degree of distortion/blind spots in your vision, similar to an Amsler grid.
A circle of small dots appears on the screen, one of which is slightly misaligned from the rest of the circle (outside of the circle). The aim is for you to tap the dot that you think is outside of the circle. The misalignment becomes less noticeable as the test goes on, making it more difficult to identify. After a short amount of time the dot will slowly start moving further out from the circle to make it easier to spot.
The app will adjust the misalignment based on your performance. The better you do, the smaller the misalignment gets, making it more challenging to find.
Distortion is measured in reaction time.
